About Treni

A personal project born from a passion for running and the possibilities of AI.

Founder & Developer

I started Treni because I was looking for a fun project to build with Cursor in the coming period - something I could actually use myself. In general, I find personalized training plans quite expensive.

I hope that through feedback from other runners, I can create a nice, accessible alternative. In the coming months, I'll be using it myself to really get fitter again in 2026. The more people join and give feedback, the better Treni will become.

This is all driven by my fascination with AI, vibe coding, and the incredible possibilities this has brought in recent times.

Why 'Treni'?

Kenya → Swahili → Treni

I was born in Kenya, where running is obviously huge. When I was looking for a nice name for this project, I decided to translate 'trainen' (Dutch for 'to train') to Swahili using Google Translate.

The result: Treni. A short, powerful name that fit perfectly.

Later I discovered that if you translate 'Treni' from Swahili back to Dutch, you actually get 'treinen' (trains). 🚂

But hey, the name was already set and I still liked it. So Treni it stays!

Built with Cursor

AI-powered development

Treni is 100% built with Cursor - an AI-powered code editor. This project is a testament to what's possible when combining the creativity of a developer with the power of modern AI tools. Every line of code, from the database schema to the frontend animations, was crafted through this collaboration.
